J. LORNE BRAITHWAITE
Chief Executive Officer
J. Lorne Braithwaite is an entrepreneurial developer and industry leader in enclosed regional mall real estate and retailing across Canada. He has also done extensive commercial real estate development work internationally in Dubai and China.
In April 2009, Lorne was appointed as CEO of the new Build Toronto real estate venture. He was Founder, Chairman, President and CEO of Cambridge Shopping Centres (now Ivanhoe Cambridge), where he amassed 40 large enclosed malls after doing a leveraged management buyout in 1980. Internationally, he served as the Worldwide Chairman of the International Council of Shopping Centres 1995-1996. He was President of the Canadian Institute of Public and Private Real Estate Companies (CIPREC) from 1995-1997. He chairs the Investment Advisory Committee for the Canada Post Pension Plan and is a director of both Enbridge Inc. and Bata Shoe Corporation Worldwide. He is a recipient of the University of Alberta Alumni Recognition Award, the University of Alberta's Wall of Fame Award and the NAIOP 2005 Award in Real Estate Excellence - Lifetime Achievement Honouree.
Lorne holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
David Fiume
Senior Vice President & CFO
David Fiume is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years of senior executive experience in accounting, finance and operations in the public and private real estate sector with extensive expertise in joint venture partnerships, securing financing and acquisitions.
As Senior Vice President & CFO, David is a key member of BUILD TORONTO’s Executive Management Team responsible for the overall financial management of the Corporation, including finance, accounting, treasury, insurance, risk management and financial planning. David was most recently the President & Chief Executive Officer at Retrocom Mid-Market REIT, a publically traded Real Estate Investment Trust with approximately $400 million of assets. He led various successful transactions including the acquisition of $55 million dollars of properties and a $20 million public offering. He also led numerous financing or refinancing deals totaling upwards of $180 million dollars. Prior to Retrocom Mid-Market REIT, he was President and Chief Executive Officer at Telepanel Systems Inc., a publicly traded high-tech company, Vice President, Finance and Treasury at Lehndorff, Chief Financial Officer at Camreal Management Inc., and Audit Manager at KPMG.
David acquired his Chartered Accountant Designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and completed his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto.
DON LOGIE
Senior Vice President, Development
Don Logie is a senior real estate executive with extensive experience in the development and operation of commercial, industrial and residential real estate with particular emphasis on retail, office and mixed use developments.
He has actively directed the development of major shopping and power centres, and the redevelopment and renovation of mixed use downtown office and retail complexes, suburban malls and offices in most provinces across Canada. Don has also been responsible for industrial developments in Ontario, the USA and Mexico. He is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and of the International Conference of Shopping Centres.
Prior to joining Build Toronto, Don was Acting President and CEO as well as Vice President, Development for the City of Toronto Economic Development Corporation (TEDCO). As Senior Vice President, Development, Don is responsible for development, construction, planning and leasing.
JOHN MACINTYRE
Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs
John Macintyre has more than three decades of government and business experience, holding senior policy and operational roles in both the amalgamated City of Toronto and the former City of Etobicoke. He was also a Vice President of the City of Toronto Economic Development Corporation (TEDCO).
John is very active in the Toronto community as a director for the Toronto Blue Jays Charitable Foundation, chair of the management committee for the Humber Arboretum, a cabinet chair for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and is the regional chair for the Governor General's Canadian Leadership Conference. He is also former chair of Parks and Recreation Ontario and a former member of the Toronto Grant Review Team for the Ontario Trillium Foundation. John holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from York University.
Prior to his appointment at Build Toronto, John was the Acting CEO of Invest Toronto developing and executing their start-up strategy. As Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs, John is responsible for Human Resources, Communications, Public Affairs, Stakeholder and Industry Liaison, Legal and Corporate Governance.
